It all started with my passion for sports! I played many different sports growing up in New York, and was fortunate enough to continue my soccer career at Virginia Tech. Once I married, and began to raise a family, I turned my attention to coaching. I enjoyed every aspect of working with my own and other kids to teach them the game (wheth
It all started with my passion for sports! I played many different sports growing up in New York, and was fortunate enough to continue my soccer career at Virginia Tech. Once I married, and began to raise a family, I turned my attention to coaching. I enjoyed every aspect of working with my own and other kids to teach them the game (whether soccer, baseball, softball, hockey or whatever they were into at the time!) If I didn't know enough about it, I became a student of the game and tried to learn it, so I could teach it!
I was always the “photographer of the family”, but as my kids outgrew my coaching abilities I turned to Sports Videos as a hobby. I would film matches and then create both individual and team highlight clips that I posted to YouTube playlists for all to see.
Those efforts provided players with highlight links for them to send to college coaches as they pursued their own dreams of continuing to play in college. Along the way I recorded many neighborhood and friend’s kids and made highlights for them too! My YouTube channel at WildmanPete includes hundreds of videos with thousands of views! With no more kids in the house to coach, and with a lot of woods in our backyard, WildmanPete was born! I got a trail camera one year to capture all the wildlife activity in the backyard. Collecting images and videos of deer, fox, woodchucks, squirrels, skunks, birds and other critters in their natural environment is fascinating and grew
With no more kids in the house to coach, and with a lot of woods in our backyard, WildmanPete was born! I got a trail camera one year to capture all the wildlife activity in the backyard. Collecting images and videos of deer, fox, woodchucks, squirrels, skunks, birds and other critters in their natural environment is fascinating and grew into me posting and sharing those activities to Facebook... and that is where my WildmanPete page was born!
I often imagined the "story" behind the action I captured, so to add color to each picture or clip I tried to add fun narration! You may not learn the class and species of every animal I post from me, but you may learn their “name” and hear an interesting and fun story! It’s a place where we can all learn together!
Seeing children react to the animals WildmanPete posts, and spending time with youngsters (a different form of wildlife!) and their families recently, I realized there was a whole industry tied to "toddler entertainment videos." Some of these include very fundamental videos about an everyday activity, event or “thing” that is played on a continuous loop, so I started creating those for entertainment purposes as well! I expect to have a lot more content in this area soon, so look for more postings from WildmanPete!

It turns out my passion for playing and learning sports, which led me into coaching… and then with the story telling I like to do with the wildlife I post, I really believe it boils down to "mentoring" as to what brings me joy. Anyone can "coach" a team or skill, but trying to mold, model and shape what it means to be a good person and to be of good character on and off the athletic field was my real purpose and goal. If I can add toddler entertainment videos to the list (to help parents!) and bring fun to those kids, then I’ll feel like I’m making a difference.
Some of my most joyful memories have been from my kid's teammates coming up to me years later and saying "Don't ever take those YouTube videos down!" They still go back to them to watch! Heck… I still go back to them! A high school player, who was then coaching high school soccer, told me his team “found” his highlights on YouTube and were amazed at his skill. How much fun is that!
I've had the pleasure of working with many young folks (and my own!) outside of sports, regarding many "life events" and decisions, including car buying, college selection, home rental/purchase decisions, budgeting, resume writing and job searching... just to name a few. It’s always been my pleasure and honor to assist anyone who asks for my help. Under the banner of WildmanPete, I hope to keep doing all these things (and more!) that I love in order to always "give something back" in as fun and WILD a manner as possible!
